At McMahons Point Community Preschool, our vision is to provide a nurturing, inclusive, and engaging environment where every child is respected, valued, and encouraged to explore their potential.

Through strong community connections and partnerships with families, we foster a love for learning, creativity, and collaboration. We are committed to supporting children’s social, emotional, and intellectual growth in a safe, play-based environment that respects diversity and promotes a sense of belonging for all.

OUR PHILOSOPHY

At McMahons Point Community Preschool, we are committed to providing a nurturing, high-quality education where every child feels valued, safe, and supported. We acknowledge the Cammeraygal people, the traditional custodians of the land, and respect the diverse backgrounds of our families.

We believe each child is unique and should be treated with respect, empathy, and care. Our educators create an environment that encourages children to explore, take risks, and develop a lifelong love of learning. We foster secure, respectful relationships with children and their families to ensure that every child feels a strong sense of belonging, well-being, and confidence.

Our curriculum is play-based and child-centred, guided by the principles and practices of the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF). We aim to create a learning environment where children can develop a strong sense of identity, engage fully in the present moment, and gain the skills and confidence they need to navigate the world.

Children's voices help shape our curriculum, guiding us to provide learning environments that reflect their interests and support joyful, engaged participation.

We are committed to emotional and cultural safety, ensuring every child and family feels welcomed, respected, and connected to our community. Strong partnerships with families are at the heart of our work. We value family contributions and collaborate closely to support each child's learning and wellbeing.

The three key areas of our practice are:

Belonging: We focus on creating positive, supportive relationships and helping children feel a deep sense of belonging within our preschool, their families, and the broader community.

Being: We value the present moment, encouraging children to enjoy and learn from their immediate surroundings, and developing their skills and curiosity through everyday experiences.

Becoming: We support each child's growth, helping them to build confidence, resilience, and the social, emotional, and cognitive skills they need to thrive in life and education.

We believe that families are essential partners in a child's learning journey. We work closely with families to understand each child's needs, ensuring that our program is tailored to support their development. Through open communication and collaboration, we build strong partnerships that enhance the learning experience and ensure every child's needs are met.

We support children's transition to school by building their confidence, social skills, and independence within a supportive and developmentally appropriate program.

Our educators engage in ongoing professional development and reflective practice to ensure our teaching remains current, responsive, and high-quality.
